BEATRIZ BRADASCHII
DREAMS, PLASTIC, AND DOLLHOUSES
October 4th - 27th, 2024
Opening Reception: First Friday, October 4th from 5pm - 9pm
Arch Enemy Arts presents DREAMS, PLASTIC, AND DOLLHOUSES, a solo debut by Beatriz Bradaschii. A true surrealist with impressive technique and meticulous detail, Beatriz draws inspiration from her dreams and the fragments of memories. Her work is romantic, elegant and complex with the allure of Victorian horror and the innocence of a child’s fantasy.
DREAMS, PLASTIC, AND DOLLHOUSES consists of seven oil paintings rendered in sunken neutrals with a surface like dark chocolate dipped in satin. Framed in ornate, hand-carved and embellished wood, the paintings are paired with one stunning, panoramic free-standing sculpture. The face on the front and doll’s head on the back look like porcelain in contrast with the rest of the sculpture, which is finished in shiny resin. Together, the series chronicles dimly-lit interiors, hidden compartments, and shadowy corridors of the artist’s mind. Haunted by ghosts both real and imagined, each piece unlocks a secret of the home-in-miniature house on the hill, to which the artist has entered.
“This is my first cohesive body of work. [It reflects] the life experiences and changes I’ve been through that made me who I am and how they will shape my life as an artist from now on…One of the main challenges [in my life] has been healing childhood wounds. Each painting started as a gentle and compassionate conversation with my inner child; each about a different topic, a cherished memory, a fear…My work comes from my need to connect with my dreams and my subconscious mind. It is rooted in deep personal feelings, lessons from my past,...[and] my struggle to accept death as part of life.”
Beatriz Bradaschii is based in São Paulo, Brazil. Under the mentorship of Susana Bouroncle, she is primarily self-taught with a mix of formal and informal training. Beatriz began showing with Arch Enemy Arts in 2023, and we are wildly impressed with the cohesion, craft, and scope of her first solo collection. Alongside the series, we are showcasing six of her hand-painted pendant necklaces and “Our Shared Thoughts,” her painting from the 2023 AQUA Art Miami group exhibition, available on Beatriz’s new artist catalog page. DREAMS, PLASTIC & DOLLHOUSES opens with a First Friday on October 4th and will be on view through October 27th.
