Arch Enemy Arts presents EXOTICISMS, a new solo feature by Spanish artist Jesús Aguado: seven paintings of realms traversed, masterfully executed in acrylic on wood and elegantly framed. In this series, Aguado documents the “other” of some ancient forever, not with fetishization and fear but with grace and beauty:

 

“All my paintings seem to come from parallel universes with genetic modifications and cultural mixes. This time, I just want to show incomprehensible things from far away places. This whole series is optimistic…the excitement and joy of imagining something mysterious and incomprehensible. The times we live in, filled with too much information and opinions, are exhausting…I want people to feel far away from everything when they look at my paintings.”

 

We love Aguado’s work for his surreal and singular vision as much as for his incredible, technical prowess. As a whole, each painting feels tight and rendered, yet Aguado’s hand is present in every shimmering stroke. Serene and stylistic forms emerge from painterly layers to create stunning illusions of light and volume out of darkness. Everything seems to move and sway under a glistening surface, submerged in the strange and enticing beauty of this far-off and far-reaching forever. 

 

Jesús Aguado is based in Valladolid, Spain. He studied Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca and has been a digital illustrator for almost 20 years. Aguado has published with such notable clients as Santillana Latinoamérica, National Geographic, and Edelvives, earning him numerous awards, and his work was featured in Beautiful Bizarre Magazine Issue 31. Arch Enemy Arts began showing Jesús’ work in 2020, and EXOTICISMS is his second solo collection with the gallery.

Sold works will begin to ship the week starting October 6th unless other rush arrangements have been made.
